I first fell in love with K.A. Merikan when I discovered their "Special Needs" on the Teahouse web comic site. After spending all my free time (and some study time) finishing that book and "Special Needs 2" I roamed around kamerikan.com searching for my next obsession. I have to admit, the fact that one of the main characters of this story is a taxidermist appealed to and confused me at the same time. I usually stay away from Young Adult novels because the lack of intimacy or detail within can get frustrating, but this is the furthest from it! The only thing "Young Adult" about this book is the age of the characters. The themes and emotions expressed are more adult-like than anything I've seen in the YA section of the library or bookstore, and I love this "New Adult" genre. The overall story is insanely adorable, it pulls at the heartstrings, and it is full of such quirky fun that you can't not fall in love! I definitely am excited for my next K.A. Merikan read!

This is a very well-written story of first love, involving high school students. It includes an unusual plot element that deals with guilt, lust and eventually love. You'lll find yourself caring about what happens to the characters in this novel.
Found this book on goodreads and gave it a shot. I've got to say that I was sucked in right from the beginning. The characters are well written and shy away from the usual cookie cutter mold that I see in a lot of erotic gay romance novels. The POV switches between the two main characters but only at chapter-breaks. Far too often I get a book in this category and find that the POV shifts every paragraph or so and leaves me with whiplash.

It's a quirky-quick read for anyone interested and would've been a 5-star for me if not for some cringe-worthy dialogue and how quickly they started calling each other "baby" and "honey."
Don't go into this story thinking this is a traditional love story, it isn't, but hang in there and you wont regret it. Because this goes from being so weird it is cute again. It has actually become a favorite even though I had several WTF moments through out.
Diary of a Teenage Taxidermist never felt like a completely developed story to me. Things moved to quickly from horrific tragedy or a sudden lover's quarrel to steamy sex scenes or proposals. Despite that, the sheer cuteness of the main characters and their budding relationship is positively overwhelmingly adorable, and I really enjoyed every minute of this little story.
This story took me completely by surprise. I loved all of it! Talk about growing up, taking responsibility, falling in love, and going after your dreams! I also loved the creepy factor of it and the fact that this teen was not painted in the same light as so many other books I have been reading (jock and geek, or throwaway...) you know what I am saying.
I really enjoyed this one. Its quirky, its different, but its also sweet. These boys come together under very inauspicious circumstances which may be off-putting to some folks. Moving past that though, I enjoyed how these boys came around, realizing that they are each other's ideal. Ethan is a very unusual boy with a very unusual hobby. Whereas Robert is your typical high school jock, just much less jerky. He, also, has some secrets, though certainly much less dark than taxidermy. I really enjoyed reading this story, and I loved the ending. And I also love the authors' Pinterest page, which includes inspiration photos for both Ethan and Robert, as well as some seriously intriguing taxidermy.

Wow, i am so glad i bought this.This was a weird book, but in a really good way.I'm a big fan of the authors mostly because i like how rough and intense their heroes are.This one i liked because it was sweet and romantic but sexy and hot nonetheless.The MCs were so interesting(esp.Ethan) and the story itself so fresh, original and unusual.
And for those who are hesitant about the whole taxidermy stuff...well don't be.The authors did a great job describing it in such a subtle and interesting way that it changed my whole point of view about it.
What i would have liked to see though is an epilogue. (view spoiler)
